Title: Satellite technology: from sky down to the Earth for a sustainable development
Abstract:
Satellite technology is going to be the key element for a sustainable development.
Satellites are present and are the lever to extend the view of the scientific research, to increase and optimise the world need of seamless communication capability, to support to safety and security, to monitor and protect the environment, to increase and develop maritime, aeronautical, terrestrial transportation, to help elder and disabled people.
The reasons of this extensive utilisation of the satellite are based on a combination of the will of an extensive use of the “dual use” principle, of the dramatic evolution of technologies and a general cost reduction.
The presentation will try to present a few initiatives and their potential impact to support a sustainable development.
Bio
Antonio Saitto is presently director of Innovation Technology in Telespazio, previously he has been Defense and Security Marketing director in the same company.
Before joining Telespazio he has been in a few companies such as Marconi, Alenia Spazio and the European Space Agency.
He is professor of Mobile transmissions at the University of TorVergata (Rome).
