"Satellite Communications Security - Current Status and Future Expectations" by Dr. Haitham Cruickshank, senior lecturer, University of Surrey, UK

Network security is misunderstood by many engineers, managers, and researchers. Security has many facets and angles. Getting it wrong will be costly to satellite network and service providers. This seminar provides and overview of network security basic and examples to security systems such satellite TV broadcasting, mobile networks and IPsec. The seminar will highlight some remaining open security research issues in and possible solutions for future Internet and satellite network security.

Biography

He worked there since January 1996 in teaching and on several UK and European research such the Mobile Virtual Centre of Excellence (MVCE) in UK. His main research interests are network security, network protocols and QoS. He is a member of the Satellite and Space Communications Committee of the IEEE ComSoc, also he is a chartered engineer and corporate member of the IEE in UK. Also he is active in the ETSI BSM (Broadband Satellite Multimedia) and the IETF MSEC groups and author of several security related publications.
